 Welcome to this blog about The Green Plate Initiative where your health meets your plate.

I am Manvik and today we will discuss why a balanced diet is important and how to plan our own custom diet

Why is a balanced diet important?

A balanced diet provides the necessary nutrients in appropriate amounts to support bodily functions.
It is good to have a balanced diet because it will help in improving your body it is also important to exercise and work out well. A balanced diet will improve your body with healthy muscles and bones, a sharp brain and many other health benefits.


How to make your personalised diet?

Here is how to make a diet that will help you decide what type of food to eat based on your allergies, intolerance, and cultures.

First list out what allergies, intolerances and if you are veg, non-veg, jain or Iyengar you have and based on that you have to make a diet.

Then you have to include all the given points below in your diet
  • Oils, fats sugars and nuts (have a handful of nuts every day.)
  • Milk, yoghurt/curd or alternatives like almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, etc.
  • Good source of protein like meat, pulses, sprouts, eggs, etc.
  • Fruits- 2 seasonal and local fruits per day.
  • Vegetables- minimum 2 varieties of local and seasonal vegetables per day.
  • Carbohydrates such as rice, wheat, grains, millet, etc.
then you should plan out what to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and if you want you can also have a snack)try to have a balanced and healthy portion of your meal. 
Remember to add all the points above to stay healthy drink sufficient water and stay hydrated!


Exercising regularly will help our body absorb nutrients from food and keep us fit and healthy. Some forms of exercise are Yoga, strength training, Playing sports, etc.
